Teresa McLane Reed Obituary, Charleston, WV Death – In Loving Memory

Former Charleston City Council member Teresa McLane Reed, 73, of Charleston, WV, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Affectionately known as “Tricky” by family and friends, Teresa was remembered for her radiant spirit and compassionate heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Vivian A. McLane, and her grandson, Jacob Alec Reed.

Teresa built a fulfilling career as a hair stylist at Feilder’s on the West Side, sharing her creativity, warmth, and laughter with countless clients. She also dedicated herself to public service, serving Charleston on the City Council from 2003 to 2011, always striving to improve her community.

She is survived by her children, Melissa (Ken) McMillen and Brian Reed; grandchildren, Hannah and Cade McMillen and Emily and Kagen Reed; sisters, Debra Hicks, Donna Taylor Lohr, and Robin McLane Ragsdale; nieces, Gina Castranova and Leslie Taylor; nephew, Anthony Castranova; and her long-time companion, Andrew Stanley.

In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held for immediate family. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, or another charity of your choice to honor Teresa’s legacy of love, service, and compassion.

Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin expressed her condolences: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Charleston City Council member Teresa McLane Reed, who served the residents of Charleston from 2003 to 2011. Teresa cared deeply about her community and approached public service with genuine commitment. On behalf of the City of Charleston, we extend our condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.”
