Roger Sandoval Obituary, Los Angeles, CA Accident Death – Toddler killed in Playa Del Rey hit-and-run

A tragic hit-and-run crash in Playa del Rey, Los Angeles, resulted in the deaths of a 1-year-old child and his 25-year-old uncle after a violent collision near Vista Del Mar and Culver Boulevard. The crash occurred in the early morning hours as the family was returning home from a beach outing.

According to official investigations, a white Jeep Cherokee traveling at high speed crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a BMW carrying members of the Sandoval family. After the impact, the driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, abandoning the SUV nearby.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the infant victim as Roger Sandoval Farias, who was 1 year old at the time of the crash. His uncle, Osvaldo Sandoval Amaya, was also killed at the scene. Multiple other family members, including the child’s father and a teenage sibling, suffered serious injuries.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, and several victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Despite medical intervention, the infant later died from his injuries.

Authorities confirmed that the collision remains under criminal investigation, and a suspect has since been arrested in connection with the incident. Early reports indicate that the driver may have had prior DUI-related legal issues, though the full circumstances are still being processed through the court system.

The crash has drawn significant community attention due to the age of the victim and the severity of the impact, as well as concerns about speeding and dangerous driving along the coastal roadway where the incident occurred.

Law enforcement continues to urge witnesses or anyone with additional information to assist in the ongoing case as prosecutors prepare formal charges.
