George Gouldsby Obituary, Harrah, OK Accident Death – In Loving Memory

The Harrah community is mourning the tragic loss of George Gouldsby, 19, who died Thursday evening following a jet ski accident at Lake Thunderbird, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the Hog Creek area of the lake. Gouldsby, a resident of Harrah, was riding on a WaveRunner with a 20-year-old passenger from Oklahoma City when the jet ski entered a sharp curve, causing both occupants to be thrown into the water.

Emergency crews responded immediately, launching a search operation that lasted through the night. Gouldsby did not resurface and was recovered the following morning by a dive team. The passenger was rescued from the water by a bystander on shore and transported to a nearby hospital; officials said he is expected to survive his injuries.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that neither individual was wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident. Witnesses also described hazardous conditions on the lake, with strong winds, whitecaps, and unusually heavy boat and jet ski traffic contributing to the dangerous situation. Camper Brian Corn noted that the lake had been particularly busy in recent days, increasing the risk for all watercraft users.

Gouldsby’s death has left family, friends, and the Harrah community deeply saddened. Tributes on social media reflect the shock and heartbreak felt by those who knew him, remembering a young life taken far too soon.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors and ensure safety measures are reviewed. Meanwhile, loved ones and community members are coming together to support one another while mourning this devastating loss.

George Gouldsby will be remembered as a vibrant young man whose life was cut tragically short, and his passing serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and vigilance on lakes and waterways.
