91 Freeway Accident Today – Multiple Crashes Cause Heavy Traffic Delays Across Southern California
Drivers across Southern California faced major traffic disruptions Thursday following multiple accidents reported along the 91 Freeway, one of the region’s busiest commuter corridors connecting Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties.
Authorities and traffic officials responded to several incidents throughout the day, including crashes involving semi-trucks, overturned vehicles, and multi-car collisions that resulted in lane closures and severe delays for commuters traveling through Anaheim, Corona, Cerritos, and nearby communities.
One of the most serious incidents occurred near Anaheim, where an overturned big rig reportedly crushed a sedan after the truck lost control near Brookhurst Street during evening traffic hours. Emergency crews quickly responded after receiving reports of the collision. Officials stated that the truck’s container partially landed on top of the passenger vehicle. Despite the terrifying circumstances, the occupants of the sedan reportedly survived and managed to escape through the passenger side before first responders arrived. All individuals involved were transported to local hospitals with injuries not initially believed to be life-threatening.
In another incident affecting westbound lanes near Cerritos, an overturned semi-truck shut down multiple lanes during the morning commute. Traffic stretched for miles as recovery crews worked to remove debris and clear the roadway. California Highway Patrol officers diverted vehicles while crews unloaded cargo and gradually reopened lanes.
Officials have also continued investigating recent crashes involving wrong-way drivers and chain-reaction collisions along the Riverside Freeway portion of State Route 91. Earlier this spring, a fatal crash in Corona involving a suspected wrong-way driver left at least one person dead and several others injured.
Transportation officials continue urging motorists to drive cautiously, remain alert during peak traffic periods, and reduce speed in construction zones and congested areas.
